Councillor’s Column

To all those who live in our community I’d first like to take the opportunity from the bottom of my heart to say thank you for re-electing me as Councillor in the Billanook Ward in Yarra Ranges Council. It is indeed a great honour to represent you again, and represent you I will to the fullest of my ability.

I know, as a lot of you know, how important community is and how everyone can benefit from playing a role in your community. So please, one of my main messages to you is: Give a helping hand to a community group (any community group) if you can. I will be seeking out those groups who need to be better known.

In order to know how the community is feeling in 2017, I will be conducting face to face Saturday morning meetings in Mount Evelyn and Lilydale, so your issues can go straight to Council Officers in a timely fashion. There will be dates given with plenty of notice for you.

2016 is nearly over and Christmas is upon us. I’m reflecting on this year as a very sad year, and a very happy year. Very sad because of the passing of my mum, Moira Heenan, and I know some of my friends have lost loved ones as well this year. Very happy because of the birth of my little granddaughter Laila Rose, and of course my honour of being elected a Councillor again.

It’s a time of year when hopefully we can give a little bit more to those who do not have much. So please take care and I look forward to catching up with as many people as I can in 2017.

Cr Tim Heenan.
