This year the Mt Evelyn Football Netball Club welcomes their first Mt Evelyn Senior Women’s Football team.
Comprising of 19 team members so far, ranging from ages of 17 to 43, they’re looking at a team of 25 by the start of the season in April. Graeme Northey, President of the Mt Evelyn Football Netball Club said there has been a growing need for Senior Women’s Football in the Yarra Valley over the past few years with nowhere for the girls to once they’re no longer able to play in the junior teams. The decision was made to jump in and start a seniors team to accommodate these players and welcome them into the club. While there’s still a lot of work to do, Mr Northey is positive of the new team and the games coming up later this year.
Currently the Mt Evelyn Senior Women’s Football team is training every Monday evening at the Mt Evelyn Recreation Reserve from 6:30pm to get ready for the 2017 season in April.
