The Mount Evelyn Community House has reopened after the Christmas break, and we have a really exciting calendar of programs, workshops and events for 2017.
Operating from the Station House on Wray Crescent, the same building as the Mt Evelyn Library, the Community House is full of information and connections for all Mt Evelyn residents, no matter what your age. We have a few large events planned throughout the year, including Celebrating Multi Culturalism Week with a taste of Bollywood hands on Cookery workshop, and the Mt Evelyn Community Meal which is happening again on March 4 after its successful beginning in 2016.
We run classes run every week during school terms. The Term 1 brochure has just been launched, with some of the old favourites, like Yummy Yoga and Rock’n Tots returning, as well as a few new activities starting up to cover needs within the community. One such activity starting mid-February is Sunday Muso’s, youth program for secondary school students studying music who want to practice in front of an audience and gain confidence before recitals.
All our programs are based on community needs. If anyone is interested in a particular workshop or program, please come in and see us with your ideas.
Or if you would like to volunteer, we currently have a range of opportunities for anyone interested. Volunteer roles range from being on the Community House committee, administration, community engagement tasks or workshop and tutor support. If you are interested please call us on 9736 1177.
