This morning a number of Mt Evelyn groups and individuals received a Certificate of Recognition in the annual Casey Community Volunteer Awards, held at Chirnside Park Country Club. The awards, presented by Tony Smith MP, was given to 62 dedicated volunteers and volunteer organisations across the Casey electorate.
At the end of the ceremony Don Parsons, Lilydale RSL President, and Roger Boness, Mt Evelyn RSL President, surprised Tony Smith MP with a Certificate of Recognition for dedication and commitment to the Mt Evelyn and Lilydale RSL sub-branches and ANZAC Heritage. Tony Smith has supported a number of projects in the area and spoken at various commemorative events throughout Casey.
From Mt Evelyn we would like to congratulate:
Roger Boness, President of the Mt Evelyn RSL. Roger was nominated for his dedication to the Mt Evelyn RSL over the past 40 years, and president for the last 7.
Betty Crittenden for her work in the Mt Evelyn RSL over the past 30 years, and Womens Auxiliary service for 22 years.
John Allwood, Treasurer and Appeals Officer at the Mt Evelyn RSL.
Geoff Welsh, who has contributed to a number of organisations in the Mt Evelyn and Lilydale area including Melba Support Services and Mt Evelyn Neighbourhood Watch.
The Mt Evelyn RSL who have done a great amount of work in the local community including reaching out to ex-service people and their dependents, contributed to local heritage with their history publications, honouring the centenary of the deaths of local WWI veterans, and supporting local community festivals and events.
The Mt Evelyn Men’s Shed who give support to local childcare centres, pre-schools and schools, and support to the Mt Evelyn Community House.
